My Trip to the Singl-end Café and Bakehouse

Last week I and two friends ventured to the end of Renfrew St, Glasgow to the Singl-end Café and Bakehouse. My flatmate had been before and came home ranting and raving with excitement about this place so I had to check it out myself. All too willing to return-my flatmate showed me the way.

Not far from the Glasgow Art School lives the Singl-end Café and Bakehouse. Upon entering the café I was struck with the sight and smell of freshly baked bread and cakes. A sight I will happily get used to. Upon further scrutiny of the walls and shelving units we could see amazing colours, seasonal vegetables and gorgeous arts and crafts. I even spotted an industrial mixer sitting in the corner of one room. From the amazing bread selection on offer I could tell it was well used.

We hadn’t booked a table and the café was busy but after a 10 minute wait-plenty to take in the amazing surroundings-we were led to our table. Sat facing the huge windows with gorgeous blue shutters we were left to admire more of the café and of course the menu. On offer was a lovely variety of dishes including oven baked eggs with various casseroles and a selection of sandwiches made with your choice of bread. There is also a list of vegan and gluten free options available.

All three of us chose to have the Singl-end Eggs Benedict and not for lack of originality but purely because these eggs sounded fantastic! And we were not disappointed. Put down in front of us was two gorgeous looking stacks of poached egg with sweet potato, spinach, red onion topped with an amazing hollandaise sauce made with cashew and tarragon. I chose to have the Super-Seeded SuperNova bread with it which was beautiful. Of course I wouldn’t be Caffeinated Reactions if I didn’t have a coffee too.

The Singl-end Café and Bakehouse is definitely a place I’ll be going back to! The décor, the food and the service was outstanding! Next time I will need to try one or two of their cakes! Wish I had taken something to go!

With the outside area just as beautiful as the inside I think I’ll go when the weather is a bit nicer…if that’s possible in Glasgow
