An Evening in Browns Glasgow

I was recently invited along to visit Browns Bar & Brasserie Glasgow to check out their newly refurbished downstairs dining area. To celebrate the refurbishment they were also launching some new menu options that I was all too eager to try!
Having been to Browns to eat before I was very familiar with the restaurant and like most people I always opted to sit upstairs leaving downstairs empty and abandoned. However now it has all changed-with the addition of a new bar and a new look the downstairs area is now so beautiful. It is a warm and inviting space perfect for private dining and corporate events-especially with the fantastic choice of set menus. My work is constantly having conference dinners and I’ll certainly be suggesting Browns from here on in.

In addition to enjoying the surroundings we got to try some delicious new food!

For starter:

Beef Carpaccio with Parmesan Crisp-perfect beef with a crispy bit of cheese…delicious!
Smoked Salmon Aranchini-anything with smoked salmon is to die for
Duck Liver Parfait with Caramelised Onion-this was so good I am now a duck liver convert
Prawn Cocktail-a classic dish done to perfection

For main:

Fish Pie-this contained salmon, prawn and scallop and one of the best fish pies I have ever tasted
Tuna Nicoise Salad-the tuna was slightly over cooked for my taste but the salad and tapenade was yum
Mushroom Tartlet-the pastry was perfect and the mushrooms were intense
Guinness Steak Pie-I wish I had more of this!

For dessert:
Blueberry Mess-one of my favourite berries with cream and meringue, definitely a winner
Crème Brulee- classic and perfect
Rice Pudding with Strawberry Jam-this was so creamy and delicious with a very distinct nutmeg
flavour

In addition to the glass of bubbly on arrival we were also treated to a cocktail prepared in the new bar by the lovely barman. It the night wasn’t already amazing enough it was just about to get better! It was a gin cocktail!!! GIN!! A rhubarb and cucumber colins. Made with Warner & Edwards Rhubarb gin it was delightful! I need to get me a bottle to recreate it at home!

I just want to say thank you to Browns Glasgow and Spottydog Communucations for inviting me along. The food was great and the surroundings were even better. I can’t wait to come back and get me some more duck liver parfait and a gin cocktail.

Have you ate in Browns before? Need somewhere to host a corporate event?
