Everyone probably has one or two things in life that they simply could not live without and, I am no different. There are a few things in life that make my day just that little bit more enjoyable or in some cases that little more sane. Obviously this list excludes my friends and family whom I love above all things but even they can drive me crazy and without my non-negotiable happiness; things could get ugly! Elanor from Tiggy Poes and Flutterbys has nominated me to list 5 things that my daily happiness depends on a great deal. 5 things that I most certainly could and would not live without.
One: Coffee
It is probably not a shocking revelation from a blog named Caffeinated Reactions that the writer can't live without coffee. For me coffee is a way of life. It is the only way I can survive an entire day albeit work or weekend. Ever heard the metaphor 'don't poke the bear'? Well this applies to me in the morning before I've had my caffeine fix. Some people might call it an addiction. Me? I say its the first step in the prevention of the zombie apocalypse. It's not an army of the undead you need to worry about but an exhausted mob of caffeine addicts searching for the bitter, black elixir of life. And yes the fountain of youth is most likely a cafetiere.
Two: My Darling Cat
This is my beautiful cat Eve. We first met just over 3 years ago now when my family decided upon getting another cat. Back then I thought I was a 'dog person' but the responsibility for her was thrust my way when I did not agree on my mother's choice of name. Can't quite remember what that was but I am glad I rebelled because now I can't imagine loving anything or anyone quite as much as I love Eve. Yes I have become that a crazy cat lady and proud of it! She even has her own Christmas bauble for the tree like most parents have for their children. All in all she is a well behaved and loving child...I mean cat. A part from our very different cleaning methods we have so much in common such lazy afternoons curled up on the couch watching TV, food; we especially love sharing yogurts and being crazy. Of course being a parent is hard, Eve can certainly have her moody moments like refusing to eat her food or try to run away when I've had a long day at work. However having thumbs I have the upper hand, I can lock my doors so she can never break her curfew. Oh and our bathroom schedules never overlap.
Three: CC Cream
I'm definitely the kind of girl who would choose an extra half hour in bed rather than using that time applying make up. Don't get me wrong I admire girls who do, it must take some amount of will power to drag yourself out of bed so early. Or a massive cup of coffee, I refer to number one of my list. Having said that I could not live without my CC cream. Having discovered Clinique CC cream from their Moisture Surge range it has changed me completely! I have always preferred a more natural look and I don't particularly like the feel of heavy make up on my skin. When I was introduced to colour correction instead of foundations...hallelujah moment indeed!! The coverage is exactly what I was looking for and the very helpful representative in store matched me perfectly. I have never thought of looking for anything else I am CC for life! I still have a day each week where I don't wear any coverage, eyeliner and mascara only, so my skin can breathe as I feel this is very important but apart from this I am CC'd indeed!
Four: Baking
Who do I want to be when I grow up? Mary Berry for sure! I just love to bake! It is the most relaxing hobby in my opinion. Who wouldn't love a past time that presents you with cakey goodies at the end? No one that's who! And the best part about baking? Sharing it with friends and family (need to watch the figure you know)! My cupboards at home are full of baking tins and accessories, you name it I have it, even own a cupcake corer. My love of baking has even spilled into work having recently started 'Cake Fridays'. It was just me bringing and sharing cake to begin with but even I can't quite keep up with the growing demands so I set up a rota. My proudest moment was one of my colleagues having never baked a cake in his life brought in amazing brownies. And just last week I gave out my highest compliment ever when I asked for the recipe for some sugar free super healthy truffles.
Five: My phone
Where would anyone in this day and age be without a phone? I can honestly say I am not glued to it like a lot of folk are and when I am with friends I know to put my phone away. However I really could not live without it. I like knowing my friends and family are only a quick call or text away. And when I am sat on a busy bus which is twice a day most days I love putting my earphones in and being transported to another world...until I almost miss my bus stop that is. Being able to quickly check Facebook or see how my latest blog post is going is a little luxury that does make my day that much brighter. My phone begins and ends my day with waking up to and setting my alarm.
As this is only my second ever post and I am relatively new to the world of blogging I am not sure who to nominate. What items could you not live without?
This post made me thing on my five non-negotiable. Baking is definitely one of them. R

I wish the gym was one of my things!
DeleteHaha, well you can make it one :) It's addictive ;)
DeleteAwww, your cat is precious, I also became a crazy cat lady a few years back when my first cat 'Lotti' was handed to me over my garden fence, a four week old kitten who was very poorly..But that's another story (It's on my blog somewhere) She's thriving now and I can not imagine my life without her (or my other cat -Who adopted us- for that matter). Welcome to the crazy cat lady club, haha.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same with my phone, I'm not glued to it but I certainly couldn't live without it. It is SO handy! Loved this post. xx (Also going to follow your blog, I shall add it to my feed :))

DeleteI couldn't live without my cats either. They were surrogate children for so long. Now the kids are here they have slipped down the totem pole a bit but I still love them.
ReplyDeleteThat is understandable, I hear children are very important :P
DeleteWhy cats would be on my list too. They just brighten up my day and I swear that they are more entertaining that TV.
ReplyDeleteI am ashamed to say that I couldn't live without my phone either.
Give Eve a bobble and she is happy for a good hour or so keeps me entertained to!
DeleteOoh that Clinique CC cream is amazing! I love it. I also use it mixed with foundation or liquid highlighter depending on what coverage I want. x
ReplyDeleteIsn't it!? Putting foundation over it is great if you want more coverage, I just prefer some translucent powder myself. Its perfect if I'm in a rush and have no time to moisturise
DeleteThis is such a lovely post. I couldn't live without my animals, but I don't drink much coffee. I'm trying to get into more baking though.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to post in the future about tried and tested recipes, it might help or inspire you :)
DeleteI am the same without my morning caffeine. Don't even try and talk to me unless you're putting the kettle on lol. x
ReplyDeleteThe only question I will answer at that time is "coffee?" haha
