Cocktails and Cabaret with Social and Cocktails

“Life is a cabaret, oh chum”! Well it was at Riding Rooms, Glasgow when I was lucky enough to attend an evening of cocktails and cabaret all to try the lovely new cocktails from Social and Cocktail. Who doesn’t like a free cocktail right? Thank you to Elanor for inviting me along as her guest.

Who are they?

Social and Cocktail are a group of pop-up bartenders that you can hire to make your night that little bit extra special! In order to showcase their new cocktails we were invited along to the amazing cabaret bar that is Riding Rooms in Glasgow city centre. There we were treated to 5, yes 5, new and creative cocktails. Oh and add delicious to that list of adjectives. You can hire Social and Cocktail for an endless list of events: hen parties, stag parties, birthdays, weddings or even to your home for a fun cocktail making master class. It’s up to you! We were also treated to some rather entertaining cabaret acts to enjoy alongside our cocktails.

The Cocktails:

The cocktails available for us to try were:
Blueberry Sour

Disco Drumstick

Strawberry & Vanilla Daiquiri

Pomegranate Mojito

Strawberry Woo Woo

I got to try them all except for the Strawberry Woo Woo and they were all yum and definitely unique. My favourite had to be the Blueberry Sour, I love blueberries and it contained gin. You all know how much a fan of gin I am! The Disco Drumstick tasted exactly like a drumstick lollipop and of course it was garnished with an actual drumstick lolly! I personally wouldn’t normally order a strawberry flavoured drink but I gave the daiquiri a try. It tasted creamy and with a strong strawberry flavour, perfect if you have a sweet tooth! The Pomegranate Mojito tasted very fresh and the mint went amazingly well with the pomegranate juice.

The Cabaret

Cards on the table…I love theatre! So I was super excited for the cabaret acts in store for us. First up was Alana Wilson-an amazing cabaret singer. She mixed up some classic songs and some modern hits all with a cabaret twist. Her voice and stage presence was exceptional and it takes an amazing talent to take on Adele-and Alana nailed it! Next up was the ever glamourous and sassy Kim Khaos-a burlesque act. We were also introduced to boy burlesque in the form of Tom Harlow. They were both phenomenally entertaining. Their clothes-or lack thereof-were beautiful and they both just oozed sass. I loved it and will definitely be going to see more burlesque acts now!

Do you like the sound of these cocktails? Fancy hiring bartenders? Have you seen any burlesque acts?
