Craft Gin Club #3

It’s probably a little late to be talking about December but it is better late than never so I present to you the December gin from Craft Gin Club. For those gin lovers who remember my last gin post was in November and that given I have a quarterly subscription I shouldn’t be getting gin in December. However when emailed asking to upgrade my subscription to bi-monthly and as a thank you I would receive an exclusive member’s only gin in December-I could hardly say no!

The December gin was very special indeed and from a place close to my heart-Scotland! AK’s gin from Arbikie Highland Estate is named and distilled in memory of their father. It is a very new gin and as a member I was one of the first people to try it, how cool is that!? The gin is distilled using ingredients grown in the farm and the wheat base gives it an almost buttery taste. With notes of honey and liquorice the gin is absolutely delicious and quickly becoming one of my favourite gins. It is a beautiful tribute to a loving father.

What I received:
AK’s Gin, Arbikie Highland Estate-70cl

The London Essence Tonic Water

Cordorniu Clasico

Dean’s All Butter Shortbread

Luxardo Maraschino cherries

Ginned! Magazine

The accompaniments made this box absolutely perfect for December, who doesn’t love some shortbread at Christmas? And the box of Dean’s given was fantastic! So buttery! The tonic water by The London Essence paired beautifully with AK’s gin and popping one of the lovely cherries in as a garnish made it taste slightly of Cream Soda…yum!

What made everything complete was two of the cocktails, recipes given in the magazine, they were perfect for the time of the year! The ‘Mulled Gin’ was a great Christmas warmer-it invokes all the spices and citrus of mulled wine, (cinnamon, cloves, lemon, and orange) but with a boozy gin kick! Then there was the ‘Gin Fizz’ that made use of the sparkling wine and maraschino cherries, perfect for toasting in the New Year. What better way to celebrate Hogmanay than with a beautifully Scottish gin?

If you love gin and want Craft Gin Club to deliver new and exciting gins to your door alongside mixers and snacks to pair it with then head to their website. It costs £40 with monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly subscriptions available. It truly is worth it.

See you in February! Until then, gin! gin!
