Craft Gin Club #2

So I have learned that waiting 3 months for my quarterly Gin subscription was a lot more difficult than I thought. After seeing other members of the Craft Gin Club getting their gin on months I hadn’t subscribed to I was so excited when November arrived! It’s gin month! My wait was extended however after a ridiculous mix up with Royal Mail but finally my parcel arrived and boy was it worth the wait!

November saw the lovely folk at Craft Gin Club take a trip “downunda” with an amazing gin from a distillery in Australia-The Four Pillars. With the UK and Ireland mostly dominating my gin geography I was more than intrigued to see what Oz had to offer. In the box there was:

Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin-70cl bottle

2cl bottle Campari

6cl bottle Miro Vermut Rojo

Four Pillars Breakfast Negroni marmalade 50g

40g Pipers Crisps Co Wild Thyme and Rosemary

Kinnerton Just Chocolate deliciously dark and smooth with Florida Orange 25g bar

A copy of Ginned! Magazine

You will most certainly agree that this is an interesting variety of items. Of course receiving the box on a Saturday meant the gin was sampled that evening. The Four Pillars gin-batch distilled in Yerra Valley- is definitely one of the most unique gins I have ever tasted and believe me I have tried a lot. With tasting notes including cinnamon and star anise it certainly has a festive flavour. The most noticeable flavour however is citrus so using it as an ingredient in marmalade was inevitable. Four Pillars gin retails at £37.99 in the UK putting it in the mid-price range but with its distinct flavours it is worth every penny.

The magazine contained some really flavoursome cocktails one of which being the classic Negroni-this box contained everything needed to make this. Coincidence? I can’t wait to try. I also need to try the cocktail Breakfast Martini which makes use of the marmalade because putting it on toast would just be boring.

As with most chocolate in my house the dark chocolate with orange did not last long. I love dark chocolate-especially when paired with orange. This particular bar was gluten, egg, dairy and pretty much everything free. It did contain however the delicious flavour of chocolate orange. A perfect November treat. I am yet to try the crisps but I can’t imaging they will last much longer and I’m sure they will taste amazing too.

If you like gin I urge you to subscribe to the Craft Gin Club. Each box costs £40 which is a bargain if you ask me! I can't beGIN to explain how much I love it.

  26. You make me want to have a cocktail (and it's not even 10.30 am!). Alcohol is now in the box 'what I used to do'. I have two kids and am breastfeeding, but whenever I rare chance of going out comes by I do like to have something which is worthwhile drinking. It has become a special occasion, and not a weekly routine.
