TGIFL Friday...

Thank goodness it’s FUN LUNCH FRIDAY. I allude to my previous post on a few things I have learned during my first year of PhD life, can read that here. I learned that a PhD can be fun but sometimes you need to bring the fun so to speak. If you are having a particularly rough week it is good to have something to look forward to. So I welcome you to Fun Lunch Fridays. A monthly occurrence-conveniently on payday-for myself and Elanor from Tiggy Poes and Flutterbys as a way to increase the work morale.

First month was my choice and after hearing and reading so much about Barburrito I had to go!

With it being Halloween, the restaurant was amazingly decorated inspired by the Day of the Dead keeping with the Mexican theme. Exotic plants and cobwebs what more can you ask for? After perusing the menu I opted for the loaded burrito with spicy shredded beef. The loaded version of your classic burrito came with an extra filling so had me some grilled chicken.

For the spice conscious people out there all their sauces and beans come in a variety of spice levels. I opted for medium for both as I am aware my description of medium spice could be completely different to theirs. Although it was super tasty there wasn’t as much kick to the sauce as I would have liked so when I go back I’ll need to try the hotter sauces. The burrito was so tasty and paired with a fresh lemonade it was a perfect start to Fun Lunch Fridays.

My one criticism? The people before me in the queue took so long to decide what extra toppings they wanted and caused such a confusion that my food had turned a bit cold when I got to actually eat it. This of course was not the fault of the staff.

One thing I am thankful for? Arriving there just before 12 as when we got comfortable in our booth a huge queue emerged and it got very busy! A great thing for Barburrito but I would not have liked being stuck at the back-especially with a limited lunch time.

Final thoughts-the food was delicious, the feel and look of the restaurant was great and I will definitely go back! Need to try the amazing nachos that Elanor had!

Have you been to Barburrito before? How was your experience?

  1. This is one of my favourite places to go for a quick lunch. The only trouble is, their spicy salsa is not spicy enough.

  3. Sounds like a great place to have lunch. I am a wimp when it comes to hot/spicy food, so for me medium hot would probably be hot enough.

  4. I like my spicy food to be really spicy so I would have to order their extra hot varieties.

  15. Oh I do enjoy a good mexican. And although you said the medium wasn't spice I think I'd opt for the medium too- just to make sure I'm on the same spice level. I do like a bit of heat just not crazy amounts!
